John's Creek Water Supply Project

Client: Mountain Water District—Pikeville, Kentucky

Summit Engineering was retained by the Mountain Water District to assist with design of a water supply project. The project included the design and construction administration necessary to extend water supply service to areas of Pike County, Kentucky.

The Johns Creek project area is approximately 18.4 square miles. The proposed Johns Creek Water Supply Project will immediately impact 415 customers. Specific construction activities associated with the project included:

  • 97,400 linear feet of 4”–8” water line
  • 26 blow-off hydrants
  • 9 air releases
  • 6 - 8” resilient wedge gate valves
  • 44 - 6 resilient wedge gate valves
  • 20 - 4” resilient wedge gate valves
  • 2 connections to existing 8” water lines
  • 2 booster pumping stations
  • 2 water storage tanks
