Russel Fork Treatment Plant and Expansion

Client: Mountain Water District—Pike County, Kentucky

This project is the result of a 1997 Division of Abandoned Mine Lands Groundwater Contamination Study completed by Summit. The study covered approximately 1,200 households and involved 396 interviews and 109 water samples.

The study generated the project which includes the construction of 42 miles of 4–12 inch water lines, 4 pump stations, 4 water storage tanks a 2.0 mgd water treatment plant, and 4 pressure reducing stations. Total cost of the project exceeded $12 million dollars. The plant and lines are operational and functioning at the expected level of efficiency.
