Laurel Mountain Resources Section 404 Permitting Project
Client: Laurel Mountain Resources, LLC—Kentucky Transportation Cabinet
This project included Section 404 Permitting for a dual purpose project. The project was designed to recover coal resources in a portion of Floyd County, Kentucky as well as facilitate construction of a portion of the Minnie-Harold Connector ( KY Route 680) currently in design by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The section 404 Individual Permit Application is currently pending with USACE. This project included all work necessary to compile the permit application including stream delineation, habitat assessment, benthic macroinvertebrate surveys, determination of impacts to jurisdictional water, design of compensatory mitigation, and preparation of the environmental assessment documents. The project proposes the construction of three fills, which are necessary for development of the roadway corridor.
